Burkhardt Prigge

Burkhardt Prigge (born June 11, 1964 in Uelzen ) is a former German basketball coach .

career

Prigge grew up in Bremerhaven and rose as a 1982 player with OSC Bremerhaven  in the 2nd basketball league . However, he then focused on coaching and was mainly active in the youth field. Prigge went to Braunschweig to study electrical engineering and worked temporarily as a coach for the men's team of MTV Wolfenbüttel in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Between 1987 and 1991 he completed his training at the coaching academy of the German Sports Association in Cologne . During the Junior World Cup in 1987, he was assistant coach under national coach Bernd Röder and later assistant coach of the German senior national team, including when it became European champion in 1993. After the triumph he followed national coach Svetislav Pešić  to Alba Berlin and was his assistant there as before in the national team. Prigge remained in office until 2005 and during this time won the European club competition Korac Cup with the Berliners in 1995 , the German championship in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 and the German cup competition in 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003. Following the 2004/05 season, Alba did not renew his contract. During his tenure in Berlin, he partly continued to work for the German Basketball Federation : During the 2001 European Championship, he was part of the national team's coaching staff.

After separating from the Berlin Bundesliga club, Prigge retired from professional sport, completed a degree in industrial engineering and project management and worked for Alba Recycling GmbH and a management consulting firm.
