Jürgen Banholzer

Jürgen Banholzer (* in the 20th century) is a German organist , countertenor and musicologist .

Life

Banholzer studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .

He received lessons from Michael Chance and Gérard Lesne . Banholzer is particularly known for his interpretations of works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel, as well as other baroque oratorios and chamber music works.

Banholzer has performed with the Concerto Köln , the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra , the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble , the Ensemble La Fenice , the Clemencic Consort and the Ensemble Il Seminario Musicale .

Banholzer then studied musicology and received his doctorate at the University of Mainz with a study on compositions by the Liszt students Julius Reubke , Felix Draeseke and Rudolf Viole (1825–1867).
