Terry Wey

Terry Wey (born September 15, 1985 in Bern ) is a Swiss - American countertenor .

Career

Terry Wey was born into a Swiss-American family of musicians in 1985 and received vocal training as a soloist in the Vienna Boys' Choir as well as piano training. His brother Lorin (* 1990) is also a singer.

From 2003 Wey began to establish himself in the international concert and opera scene. He interpreted roles as diverse as Rinaldo ( Handel : Rinaldo ), Andronico ( L Limiti : Il Giustino ), Roma & Religione ( Landi : Il Sant'Alessio ), Ruggiero ( Vivaldi : Orlando furioso ), Oberon ( Britten : A Midsummer Night's Dream ) or Akhnaton ( Glass : Akhnaten ).

Wey's love of Renaissance music led to the establishment of the Cinquecento vocal ensemble. In addition to the Cinquecento CDs, his discography also includes complete recordings of Albinoni's Il nascimento dell'Aurora, Handel's Israel in Egypt and Faramondo as well as Bach's Mass in B minor under Marc Minkowski and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater .
