Johannes Anderegg

Johannes Anderegg (born June 3, 1938 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss German studies scholar and literary scholar .

Life

Anderegg studied German, English and art history from 1957 to 1964 at the Universities of Munich, Cambridge (GB) and Zurich. In 1964 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

After working as head teacher at the High School Winterthur (1966-1967) and Assistant Professor at the University of Göttingen (1967-1971) he had 1971-1978 Professor of German Studies / Literature at the University-University of Kassel held whose founding board it from 1972 to 1974 belonged.

In 1978, Anderegg took up a professorship for German language and literature at the University of St. Gallen, which he headed from 1986 to 1990 as rector. From 1991 to 1993 he was head of the cultural studies department at the University of St. Gallen, from 2002 to 2003 head of the cultural studies department at the University of St. Gallen.

Anderegg was visiting professor at Yale University (1977 and 2001), the University of Konstanz (1980/81), Dartmouth College, USA (1992) and the German School Middlebury College (Summer School), USA (1994). In 1978 he turned down an appointment to Yale University.

In 1996 the Theological Faculty of the University of Zurich awarded him an honorary doctorate.

Since 2003 he has been professor emeritus at the University of St. Gallen .

Anderegg was president of the Swiss Institute for Foreign Trade and Applied Economic Research at the HSG (SIAW), member of the revision commission for the Old Testament of the Zurich Bible, president of the Society for Swiss Art History (GSK), member of the board and committee of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Humanities Social Sciences (SAGW), member of the Board of Trustees of the Holderbank Foundation as well as member of the editorial group «Works on the history and impact of the Bible».
