Gerd Kohl (born December 19, 1943 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Kohl came from the youth of Schwarz-Weiß Essen and then belonged to the amateur team from the Uhlenkrug Stadium . After the end of the league era 1962/63 he was taken over for the 1963/64 season in the squad of the then second-rate Regionalliga West . Under coach Willibald Hahn he made five appearances in his first regional round. After Hahn, coach Hans Wendtland returned to the black and white team from the ETB. From the 1965/66 season - SWE took seventh place - the winger Kohl, who mostly stormed to the left wing, was a regular player and completed 22 league games in which he scored eight goals. For the 1966/67 season, the young Horst Witzler took over as coach. He reached the runner-up with the black and white and moved into the promotion round in 1967. With one point behind Borussia Neunkirchen, Kohl and his teammates Ulrich Braun , Theo Klöckner and Hans Walitza missed promotion to the Bundesliga. Kohl had played all eight games in the promotion round and scored three goals. After five seasons in Essen with a total of 79 regional league appearances and 21 goals, Kohl joined league rivals Arminia Bielefeld for the 1968/69 season .

The second season, 1969/70 Kohl finished with his teammates as runner-up, two points behind the champions VfL Bochum . After changing coach in November 1969 from Hans Wendtland to Egon Piechaczek , he was able to move into the promotion round. Kohl had scored three goals in 21 league appearances. In the following promotion round Kohl contributed two goals in two games - in the 3-0 home win against Osnabrück he was substituted on in the 71st minute and scored two more goals - in the end, Arminia sat down against the rivals Karlsruher SC, SV Alsenborn , Tennis Borussia Berlin and VfL Osnabrück and got promoted to the Bundesliga. In total, Kohl came to 39 regional league games for the DSC in which he scored six goals. Overall, he is led in the Regionalliga West from 1963 to 1970 with 126 games and 27 goals; there are also ten rounds of promotion with five goals.

In the Bundesliga he made his debut in the first home game on August 22, 1970 in a 0-0 draw against Rot-Weiss Essen, as usual on the left wing. His 21st and last appearance dates from May 15, 1971, when the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig was lost with 0-1 goals. The DSC finished the 1970/71 season in 14th place. On June 6, 1971, the President of Kickers Offenbach, Horst-Gregorio Canellas , played tape recordings at his birthday party, which brought the Bundesliga scandal into the public eye. On February 19, 1972, Bielefeld was convicted by the DFB Sports Court.

Kohl moved to TSG Harsewinkel for the 1972/73 season . With the orange and black team from Münsterland - sponsored by a combine harvester manufacturer - he was relegated from the Westphalia Association.
