The Burncoat Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is a 245 acres (1 km² ) large reserve at Spencer in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
The reserve covers the western part of the eponymous lake Burncoat Pond . It provides an important habitat for migratory and resident birds and serves human visitors as a recreational area with 2 mi (3.2 km ) of hiking trails. Widespread growing heather Mountain Laurel ( Kalmia latifolia ), and with a little luck can deer , foxes , raccoons , beavers , otters , coyotes , Fisher , muskrat and a variety of bird species such as wood ducks , Blue Heron and passerines observed.
