The Burton Lake is more than 10 meters deep, hypersaline lake in altitude in the Vestfoldbergen on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . There is a connection to the neighboring Krok Fjord through which, depending on the tides, salt water is brought into the lake. It is part of a specially protected area in Antarctica (ASPA # 143).
The lake is examined limnologically all year round . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the biologist Harry Burton, who worked at Davis Station in 1974 and 1978 and carried out biological studies in the lakes of the Vestfold Mountains.
