Burzewo ( Russian Бурцево , also transcribed Burtsevo) is a village in Russia, about 50 kilometers west of Rzhev in the Tver Oblast . During the Second World War , the area was the scene of the Battle of Rzhev . At times the field hospital of the 206th Infantry Division of the German Wehrmacht was stationed here. Therefore it went down in history as the place of death / missing for many soldiers. Many of the fallen were transferred to the Rzhev war cemetery by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge .
