Busy low

Bus deep between the East Frisian islands of Juist and Norderney

The Busetief is a sea channel in the North Sea .

The Busetief is one of four to five sea spouses that lead from the south to the strait between the East Frisian islands of Juist and Norderney . To the west there is the gully to Memmertbalje and Kalfamergat, to the east the Osterriede and the Legde, to which the Riffgatt adjoins. In the strait itself there is the Spaniergatt west of the Robbenplate and the Norderneyer Seegatt east of this sandbank. From the north, the Dovetief (from the northeast) and the gorges run between various sandbanks.

The bus low runs in a north-south direction between the islands of Juist and Norderney in the north and the port of Norddeich in the south. The position and depth of the fairway are subject to major changes. The bus deep is the main channel for ferry traffic to the islands of Norderney and Juist. The fairway was relocated to the east in January 2017.

The Lower Saxony Hydrographic Map, however, includes the Norderneyer Seegat and the Schluchter as part of the bus low.
