Butere / Mumias District was a district in the Kenyan province of Western . The capital of the district was Butere . As part of the 2010 constitution , the Kenyan districts were dissolved. The area is now part of Kakamega County .
The district had four hospitals with over 300 beds. In the Butere / Mumias District, the Kakamega diocese of the Roman Catholic Church ran primary and secondary schools for non-disabled children as well as primary and secondary schools for deaf children.
