Lynn Hornor

Lynn Sedwick Hornor (born November 3, 1874 in Clarksburg , West Virginia , †  September 23, 1933 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1931 and 1933 he represented the third electoral district of the state of West Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lynn Hornor attended public schools in his home country. From 1892 he was a bank clerk. Over the years he worked his way up to becoming a bank director. He held this post until his death. He also made a career in the oil, gas and coal industries. He became president and manager of several companies in these industries. He was president of the West Virginia Natural Gas Association in 1917 and 1918 .

During World War I , Hornor served on the West Virginia Defense Committee. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1930 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the third district of West Virginia, where he succeeded Republican John M. Wolverton on March 4, 1931 . In 1932 he was confirmed in this mandate. His time in Congress was determined by the events of the Great Depression. At that time, the 20th and 21st amendments to the constitution were discussed and passed in Congress. Hornor could not finish his second legislative period. He died on September 23, 1933 in the federal capital and was buried in Clarksburg.
