James Clark McGrew

James Clark McGrew (born September 14, 1813 near Brandonville , Schuylkill County , Virginia (now West Virginia ), †  September 18, 1910 in Kingwood , West Virginia) was an American politician .

McGrew, who previously worked in commerce and banking, was a delegate at the 1861 meeting that was to decide on the secession of Virginia, and voted against. From 1863 to 1865 he was a member of the House of Representatives from West Virginia . During this time he also served as Mayor of Kingwood.

McGrew was elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873 the state of West Virginia in the US House of Representatives . In 1879 and 1880 he was again mayor of Kingwood. From 1886 he was active again in the banking industry. McGrew died in Kingwood in 1910 and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery .
