The first edition of the Butzbacher Zeitung , at that time still under the title Freier Stadt- und Landbote - Recht, Freiheit und Vaterland , appeared in the time of the March Revolution , on March 18, 1848. From 1856 the paper appeared without the political subtitle under the name Wetterauer Messenger . From 1897 the Butzbacher Zeitung appeared in Butzbach under its current name. During the time of National Socialism , an editor was appointed who controlled publication activities based on Nazi ideology. After the war, the occupying power banned the further production of the newspaper, instead the official announcements for Butzbach appeared. It was not until July 1949 that the Butzbacher Zeitung could appear again as a daily newspaper for Butzbach and the surrounding area.
