Byrle Klinck

Wayne Melville "Byrle" Klinck (born June 20, 1934 in Elmira , Ontario ; † April 15, 2016 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

Byrle Klinck began his career as a hockey player with the Kitchener Greenshirts, for which he was active from 1952 to 1954 in the Junior Ontario Hockey Association. In the 1953/54 season he also played a game in the senior division for the Montreal Royals from the Quebec Hockey League. He spent the 1954/55 season with the Toledo Mercurys from the professional International Hockey League . He was then hired by the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen amateur team, with whom he represented Canada at the 1956 Winter Olympics. Following the tournament, the defender played for the Stratford Indians for a year before running again for the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen in the 1957/58 season. However, there he only played seven times, so he paused ice hockey for a year. From 1959 to 1961 he competed for the Regina Caps in the Saskatchewan Senior Hockey League. From 1961 to 1968 he was on the ice for the Woodstock Athletics. From 1968 to 1970 he played for the Oakville Oaks before ending his career at the age of 36.

International

For Canada , Klinck took part in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , where he and his team won the bronze medal.
