Byron Wells (born April 3, 1992 ) is a New Zealand freestyle skier . He starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Wells made his debut in the World Cup in February 2008 in Inawashiro and finished 11th in the halfpipe. The following month he won 27th place at the 2009 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Inawashiro . After third place in Big Air at the beginning of the 2009/10 season at the Winter Games New Zealand in Cardrona , he was third in the halfpipe at the Aspen / Snowmass Open and fifth at the Winter X Games Europe 2010 in Tignes . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he came second at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona in the halfpipe. This was followed by third places in the halfpipe at the Winter Dew Tour in Snowbasin and at the European Freeski Open in Laax .

At the Winter X Games 2011 in Aspen , he finished ninth in the superpipe . In February 2011 he finished 14th in the slopestyle and fifth in the halfpipe at the 2011 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Park City . The following month he came in at the Winter-X-Games-Europe 2011 in Tignes on the 21st place in the Slopestyle and on the 11th place in the halfpipe competition. In the 2012/13 season he took second place at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and achieved his best result in the World Cup with fourth place in Sochi . At the Winter X Games Europe 2013 in Tignes he was sixth in the halfpipe. In the following year he achieved 12th place in the halfpipe competition at the 2014 Winter X Games in Aspen .

In the 2014/15 season he won the Aspen Snowmass Freeskiing Open and took third place in slopestyle at the USSA Revolution Tour in Mammoth and in the halfpipe at the Canadian Open Championships in Calgary and at the AFP World Tour Final in Whistler . At the Winter X Games 2015 in Aspen , he finished ninth in the halfpipe. In the 2015/16 season he came seventh at the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen and 15th place at the X Games Oslo 2016 . In February 2016, as in the previous year, he won the Aspen Snowmass Freeski Open in the halfpipe.
