Cécile Bonnet-Weidhofer

Cécile Bonnet-Weidhofer (born Bonnet , * 1982 in Aix-en-Provence , France ) is a politician of the FDP . She was deputy chairwoman of the state association of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . She was also the top candidate of the FDP for the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2016 .

education and profession

Cécile Bonnet-Weidhofer has French and, since 2013, German citizenship. She grew up in Aix-en-Provence and did her Baccalauréat (Abitur) there. After completing a degree in “French as a Foreign Language” in Montpellier and a master's degree in “Intercultural German-French Studies” in Aix-en-Provence and Tübingen , she first moved to North Rhine-Westphalia in 2006 , where she gained experience in the Federal Association of Cultural Education for Children and Young People international youth education work. In 2010 she moved to Schwerin to work as an educational advisor in an art school for children and young people. Bonnet-Weidhofer is currently working at the European Academy for Women in Politics and Business in Berlin. She heads the German-Tunisian project "Democracy needs women". She also gives lectures and workshops on "Women and Local Politics".

Cécile Bonnet-Weidhofer is married to a German and has a son who was born in spring 2016.

politics

After losing the state election in 2011 , she joined the FDP. The CDU and FDP parliamentary group of the Schwerin city council initially designated her as an expert citizen in the culture committee. In the 2014 local elections , she won the only seat for the FDP in the Schwerin city council and joined the CDU parliamentary group. She therefore sits on the supervisory board of the Schwerin Zoological Garden GGmbH. At the same time, she ran unsuccessfully in the 2014 European elections in 8th place on the list . At the end of 2015, the regional association named her the top candidate for the state elections in 2016. As a direct candidate, she ran in constituency 8 (Schwerin) . During the election campaign, she focused on education and the expansion of digital infrastructure. In the state elections, the FDP once again failed to make it into the state parliament with slight gains.
