The FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the regional association of the FDP in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

history

After the fall of the wall

In the GDR , the first free elections to the People's Chamber were held on March 18, 1990. Under the name "Bund Freier Demokrats DFP-LDP-FDP Die Liberalen" the FDP achieved 3.0% in the district of Neubrandenburg and thus no seat. In the Rostock district it achieved 3.4% and one seat, in the Schwerin district an election result of 4.5% achieved. The FDP also got a seat there. The FDP achieved below-average results in all three districts. On August 11, 1990, the Bund Free Democrats , which the NDPD had joined in the meantime, finally merged with the FDP.

After reunification

Honorary Chairman Klaus Gollert , 2013

In the first state election after the fall of the Berlin Wall on October 14, 1990 , the FDP achieved 5.5% and 4 seats in the Schwerin state parliament and subsequently formed a black-yellow coalition with the CDU under Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka . In 1991 the later Rainer Ortleb became state chairman of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On March 19, 1992 Berndt Seite succeeded Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka, who had resigned four days earlier. Both the Gomolka Cabinet and the Side I Cabinet included Klaus Gollert (responsible for work, health and social affairs) and Conrad-Michael Lehment as Minister of Economics.

In the state elections on October 16, 1994 , the FDP lost 1.7 percentage points compared to the first state elections, got 3.8% of the second vote and thus failed to re-enter the state parliament for the first time, which meant that the black-yellow coalition could not be continued. Klaus Gollert replaced Rainer Ortleb as state chairman. In the next state election on September 27, 1998 , the FDP again lost 2.2% and only got 1.6% of the second votes and 1.9% of the first votes, which again clearly failed to make it into parliament. In 1999 Hans Kreher became the new state chairman. In the fourth state parliament election on September 22, 2002 , the FDP achieved significant gains, but failed to make it into the state parliament again with 4.7%.

In the state elections on September 17, 2006 , the FDP again achieved significant gains of almost 5 percentage points, 9.6% of the second vote and thus moved into the Schwerin state parliament with 7 members for the first time since 1990, this time as an opposition party. Michael Roolf represented the strongest FDP parliamentary group to date in the Schwerin state parliament as parliamentary group chairman. In 2007 Christian Ahrendt took over from the long-term state chairman Hans Kreher .

After the state elections on September 18, 2011 , the FDP had to leave the state parliament again because, with losses of almost 7 percentage points, it only achieved 2.8% and thus clearly failed to reach the five percent hurdle. Only in the constituency of the Rügen I state parliament did the FDP achieve a result above the five percent hurdle with 5.5%. In the Rostock II state electoral district, the worst result in all of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was achieved with just 1.6% of the votes. In 2013, René Domke replaced Christian Ahrendt, who had been in office for around four years . In April 2014, Hans Kreher became the second honorary chairman of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

program

The current program of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the 2016 state election program under the title “Land of Opportunities”.

Voters

Strongholds of the FDP, where it achieved double-digit results in the district elections in 2014, include Neu Kaliss with 48.2% and Born a. Darß with 32.5%. Many of the strongholds are on Rügen ( Dranske , Rambin , Dreschvitz and others) and in the southwest of Mecklenburg ( Dömitz , Milow , Gorlosen , Grebs-Niendorf and others). The FDP achieved very low results, especially in the southeast of Western Pomerania ( Altwarp , Mönkebude , Rothenklempenow etc.). In some larger cities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the FDP achieved above-average results such as in Wismar with 5.1% and Neustrelitz (4.1%) and Güstrow (4.0%). In the two largest cities in the federal state of Rostock and Schwerin, the results of 2.5% and 3.0% are below the average of 3.3%.

The FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania achieved an average of 4% in the state elections in 2011 among the under 45-year-olds and thus more votes than in any other age category. In the over 60s, the FDP voted on average only 2%. There is therefore a considerable gap between those under 45 and those over 60. Civil servants and the self-employed voted for the FDP twice as often as the average. Only every 100th pensioner voted for the FDP. The electorate of the FDP is therefore unevenly distributed across the various population groups.

structure

organization

The FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is divided into 14 district associations. At the state level, the state party congress is the highest body made up of the democratically elected representatives of the district associations (delegates). Between the party congresses, the state party council is the second highest body of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It consists of the members of the state board, elected representatives of the district associations and representatives of the liberal organizations. The state executive is elected every two years. Since 2010 it has consisted of a total of 15 elected and two co-opted members.
