Klaus Gollert (born June 11, 1938 in Greifswald ) is a German doctor and politician ( FDP ). From 1990 to 1994 he was Minister for Labor, Health and Social Affairs for the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life and work

After graduation in 1957 Gollert took a degree in medicine at the University of Greifswald in which he in 1963 with the graduation to the Dr. med. finished. From 1964 to 1970 he worked as a ward doctor at the district hospital in Wolgast , in 1968 he was recognized as a specialist in surgery and from 1970 to 1985 he was chief physician at the polyclinic in Wolgast. From 1985 to 1987 he was director of the medical facility. From 1988 to 1990 he worked as a district expert and deputy district doctor in Wolgast.

Gollert was later head of the state representation of VdAK Hamburg until 2002 .

Political career

After the political change in the GDR , Gollert joined the FDP . In April 1994 he was elected regional chairman of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with 83 of 155 delegate votes as the successor to Rainer Ortleb at the state party conference . He headed this party office until 1995. He is now honorary chairman and member of the state board of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Gollert was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament from 1990 to 1994 .

On October 27, 1990, Gollert was appointed Minister for Labor, Health and Social Affairs to the government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka . At the same time he took over the office of Deputy Prime Minister. Since 1992 he has been a member of the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Berndt Seite . After the FDP's defeat in the state elections in October 1994, he left the government on December 9, 1994 and was replaced as Minister of Social Affairs by Hinrich Kuessner .

Honors

In November 2008, Gollert was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
