Marianne Linke

Marianne Linke , b. Berger (born October 30, 1945 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SED , PDS and Die Linke ).

From 2002 to 2006 she was Minister of Social Affairs for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life and work

After graduating from high school , Marianne Linke studied agriculture (specialization in biological material production) and mathematical statistics at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1973 she completed additional studies in meteorology in Moscow . In 1977 she did her doctorate at the Humboldt University (Dissertation A) as Dr. rer. agr. with the work "The influence of meteorological elements on the yield of winter rye - a contribution to the meteorological yield analysis and yield forecast" . 1984 habilitated they Dr. sc. agr. (Dissertation B) with the thesis "The influence of weather on the yield of winter wheat taking into account selected site conditions and plant cultivation measures" . She then worked until 1991 as a lecturer in agricultural meteorology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR as head of the ecology department and the soil science / remote sensing department.

From 1998 she worked in the environmental administration of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was most recently the head of the State Office for the Environment and Nature in Lübz .

Marianne Linke is married to the physiologist Lienhard Linke and has two daughters.

Political party

Marianne Linke was a member of the SED and remained a member of the Left Party even after the change of name to PDS (1990) and the 2007 merger with WASG .

Linke was spokeswoman for the state party council of the PDS Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 2001 to 2003 and a member of the state board of the PDS Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 2003 to 2005.

In November 2014, after five years as chairwoman of the district association of the Left in Stralsund, Marianne Linke no longer stood for election. Marianne Linke acted against the amalgamation of her district association with the district association of Rügen. Your party was not allowed to participate in the last state election in Stralsund because of irregularities during a list party convention.

Public offices

On November 6, 2002, she was appointed Minister of Social Affairs to the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Harald Ringstorff . Left is accused of having broken up the first red-red coalition at the state level due to personal interests. After the state elections in 2006 , the red-red coalition had an arithmetical majority of one vote. Linke, however, linked her voice to her personal future as minister. The SPD then chose the safe option of the grand coalition with the CDU.

The candidacy for the Bundestag election 2005 in the Bundestag constituency Stralsund - North Western Pomerania - Rügen was unsuccessful.

In the state elections on September 17, 2006, Marianne Linke was elected to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania via her party's state list. The candidacy in the Rügen I constituency was unsuccessful. In the state parliament she was the spokeswoman for the Die Linke parliamentary group for health policy, child and youth policy, research and science policy.

Marianne Linke, who is considered to be Holter's opponent, failed in the election for fifth place on the list for the 2011 state election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania against the parliamentary manager of the left-wing faction Regine Lück and left the state parliament in 2011.

In August 2013, she resigned from the Vorpommern-Rügen district council.

Scandal over boycotts of a minute's silence for the victims of the Wall

At the state party conference of the Left in Rostock on August 13, 2011, she and several other delegates did not comply with the request of the conference presidium to stand up for a minute of silence for the victims of the Berlin Wall . She justified her behavior with the words: “For me August 13th is an important date. Today is the 140th birthday of Karl Liebknecht, and I think it is particularly important to commemorate him. ”The construction of the Wall must not be viewed without the events of 1933, 1945 or 1949. The memory cannot be shortened to a date.
