Sebastian Ratjen

Sebastian Ratjen (* 27. October 1972 in Nuremberg ; † 12. March 2018 in Greifswald ) was a German FDP - politician and dentist .

Life

During his school days, Sebastian Ratjen was a member of the European Youth Parliament , of which he became vice-president in 1996.

He died on March 12, 2018 at the age of 45.

education

After graduating from high school in Königstein im Taunus and completing his basic military service, which he performed from 1992 to 1993 with the Armored Reconnaissance Battalion 5 in Sontra , Ratjen began studying dentistry at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald , which he completed in 2000. Since then he has practiced as a dentist in Greifswald. During his studies he was press spokesman for the Federal Association of German Dentists, member of the administrative board of the Vorpommern student union , president of the student parliament and senator of the University of Greifswald. From 2002 to 2011 he was President of the Society of Friends and Supporters of the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald .

Political party

Ratjen was a member of the FDP . From 1999 to 2007 he was Secretary General of the FDP Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . During this time, the FDP moved back into the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament in 2006 after 12 years .

In 2001 Ratjen was elected to the federal executive committee of the FDP, but missed re-election in 2005. In 2009 he resigned from the state board of the FDP MV. In 2010 he was the only FDP politician to speak out in favor of introducing a stock exchange tax .

Mandates

In 1998 Ratjen ran as a direct candidate for the FDP in the Bundestag constituency 16 .

In 2002 and 2006, Ratjen ran as a direct candidate for the state election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in constituency 1 Greifswald . In 2006 he was elected to the state parliament via the state list of the FDP. Here he was parliamentary group spokesman for health policy and a deputy member of the social and home affairs committee. Since he was not re-elected for the 2011 state elections and the FDP also failed because of the five percent hurdle, Ratjen resigned from the state parliament at the constituent session of the state parliament on October 4, 2011.

From 2004 to 2014 Ratjen was a member of the citizenship of the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald and the local district representative Schönwalde I / Südstadt.

From 2005 to 2014 he was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the housing and management company Greifswald.
