Cédric Fragnière (born February 16, 1976 in Gumefens ) is a former Swiss cyclist .

Career

The cyclists Fragnière made for the first time in 1997 attracted attention when he with the team VC Pédale Bulloise the silver medal in the 4-seater team time trial could win at the Swiss Championships. In the following season he then secured the championship title of the junior class in road racing and was third in the overall ranking of La Transalsace . In the team time trial, too, he and his teammates were able to achieve a top position at the competition in Muhen . This allowed the Swiss to recommend himself for his first professional contract , which he received with the Post Swiss team in 1999.

After a season in which Fragnière could not achieve any podium positions, he moved in 2000, like some other teammates, to the newly founded Phonak Hearing Systems racing team . In his first year he came third at the Grand Prix La Liberté in Friborg and took two more top ten places. His greatest success in 2001 was fifth place in the Tour du Jura . Then he managed two more placements in the top ten. The following year he was nominated for the first Grand Tour for himself and the Phonak team, namely the Giro d'Italia . However, he had to give up this on the second stage. Nevertheless, the 2002 season was the most successful of his professional career for Fragnière: he finished third in the Chur-Arosa race and fourth in the second stage of the Critérium International . He also got four other top ten results.

In 2003, Fragnière moved to the French formation Crédit Agricole , where he was under contract until August. Then he ended his career as a professional racing driver.
