César Vega , full name César Javier Vega Perrone , (born September 2, 1959 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach.
Origin and career
Vega was born to Leonel Olinto Vega Fernández and Antonia Evangelina Perrone de Vega. His maternal grandparents were Italian immigrants. Vega has a two years older brother named Leonel who works as a sports journalist for ESPN Radio in the USA and was also active as a footballer. Among other things, his brother played in the reserve team Peñarols . Vega completed his school education up to the age of eleven at the Colegio Santa Teresita and then attended the Liceo for four years . Two more years of school attendance followed, the so-called preparatoria, up to the age of 17 . In his childhood he also played football for the Galeano team and the Danubio youth team.
Player career

The 1.84-meter-tall defender Vega, who himself states that he is known in Uruguay under the name Javier Vega Perrone , while in Mexico only the name under his first name would be common, began his career in the reserve team Danubios on January 3, 1974 He made his debut in professional football in August 1979 at the Estadio Centenario with an outing against the Peñarols team. According to his own statements, the journalists rated him as the best player on the pitch that day. Eventually he was named team captain later in his career. His membership of the Danubios squad in the Primera División from 1984 to 1987 is explicitly documented . A move to the Mexican club Atlante in 1987 did not take place despite a previous agreement, which resulted in a suspension by FIFA. In 1988 and 1989, he completed a total of 38 games (no goal) at the Argentine club Deportivo Mandiyú . Other clubs in his career were Progreso , Central Español , Racing and Nacional Montevideo in Uruguay and Bolívar in Bolivia . He ended his active career on December 31, 1993.
National team
Vega was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team , for which he played seven international matches between August 2, 1984 and April 23, 1986. He did not score an international goal. Vega took part in the 1986 World Cup with Uruguay . However, it was not used there. According to Vegas himself, he played 57 games for Celeste and was also part of the squad at the 1983 Copa America .
Coaching
After his active career, Vega works as a trainer. As such, he was employed from January 1, 1994, initially at Nacional in the lower leagues from Séptima , Sexta , Cuarta to Tercera . He then had a coaching position in Argentina at Godoy Cruz , where he also initially worked in the amateur field. On August 11, 2001, he went to Mexico, where he worked eight and a half years as an assistant coach for Mexico's U-20s . He later led the team of Indios de Ciudad Juarez .
