The ships of the type C11 or the C11 class of the US shipping company American President Lines were the world's largest container ships when they were built .

details

The series consists of the six Postpanmax container ships APL China , APL Thailand , APL Japan , APL Korea , APL Philippines and APL Singapore . The client was the US shipping company American President Lines. The series was created from 1994 at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) in Kiel and Daewoo Heavy Industries (DHI) in South Korea. The ship type is simply referred to as type C11 according to the classification of the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD). The C11 ships can carry up to 4826 TEU containers. Due to its large width, it was possible to stow 16 containers side by side on deck and 14 containers side by side in the hold. In the hatches, up to nine layers can be moved one on top of the other, on deck there are up to five layers. The ships were initially used on the shipping company's transpacific service.
