history

Foundation and first years

The company was founded in St. Gallen in 1893 by Albert Angehrn , who sold coffee and tea as a traveling salesman on behalf of a Zurich trading company. During one of his trips to Eastern Switzerland , he met his future wife, the landlord's daughter Elise Hauser. Angehrn took over as a consequence the business of her father and the associated store , which he expanded.

Further milestones

In the 1960s, the family business made its greatest development and opened the first cash & carry store in Eastern Switzerland in Gossau in 1964 . In 1976, Cash + Carry Angehrn was the first retail company in Europe with fully integrated barcode goods management. In the following years, CCA Angehrn moved west. The CCA store in Bern opened its doors in 1989. In 1993, a shopping system and cash register scanning were introduced, as well as the “fresh-near-cheap” concept for retailers. Five years later, the Brüttisellen CCA store was opened. In the same year, the logistics platform in Bern went into operation. In autumn 2006 Migros took a 30% stake in the family business. As of July 1, 2012, this share was increased to 80%, the remaining 20% remained in the possession of the Angehrn family, who continued to operate and were represented on the board of directors. Since 2008, CCA Angehrn has also been present in north-western Switzerland with the CCA store in Pratteln . Since July 1, 2013, the company has been a division of Saviva AG, a subsidiary of Migros, in which its wholesale activities are combined. Another milestone in the history of CCA Angehrn was the opening of the newly designed CCA store Spreitenbach in 2015. In 2017 CCA Angehrn becomes part of the Swiss family company Demaurex & Cie SA Aligro. As a result, CCA Angehrn was renamed CC ALIGRO.
