Club de Fútbol Extremadura was a Spanish football club from the city of Almendralejo in the province of Badajoz . The club's greatest successes were two appearances in the Primera División . Under coach Iosu Ortuondo this was achieved for the first time in the 1996/97 season , and two years later Rafael Benítez managed again to lead the club from the small town in Extremadura to the top division of Spain.

The club rose after the 2006/07 season from the Segunda División B to the Tercera División (Group XIV).

In 2010, after struggling with financial problems for several years, he was dissolved. The club's unofficial successor is Extremadura UD , which was promoted to the second-rate Segunda División in 2018 .
