Francisco Miguel Narváez Machón (born April 26, 1972 in Jerez ), called Kiko , is a former Spanish football player .

Career

In his youth, Kiko played for the largest club in his home province, FC Cádiz . For the 1990/91 season he moved up to the club's professional team. On April 14, 1991 he played his first game in the Primera División in a 3-2 defeat by Athletic Bilbao . Although he only played five more games over the course of the season, he ultimately contributed significantly to the club's relegation: On the decisive final day of the game, he was substituted on in the 65th minute when the score was 0: 1 against Real Zaragoza , helping his team with one on him caused foul penalty to equalize and scored in stoppage time even to a 2-1 victory, whereupon they left the relegation ranks in the last second and reached a relegation place. In the playoffs against CD Málaga , Cádiz remained the winner on penalties and held the class.

In the 1991/92 season Kiko rose to the undisputed regular player, was a top performer of his team and was appointed to the national team for the first time. At the end of the season, relegation could again be just secured. After relegation in the 1992/93 season , he left Cádiz and signed a contract with Atlético Madrid . At the capital city club, Kiko developed into one of the most prominent Spanish footballers of the nineties. With numerous goals and assists, he played a decisive role in Atlético's historic 1995/96 double season, when they won the championship and the cup.

After relegation in the 1999/2000 season , Kiko played a second division season with the Madrilenians. He then played for FC Extremadura for six months before retiring at the age of 30 due to persistent ankle problems.

National team

Kiko went through the national youth teams of his country and took part in the 1992 Summer Olympics. He scored five goals in the course of the tournament, including two in the 3-2 final victory over Poland, and won the gold medal with his team.

Kiko's debut for the Spanish national team came on December 16, 1992 in a World Cup qualifier against Latvia . With Spain he took part in the 1996 European Championship and 1998 World Championship . In the latter, he scored a goal in the group game against Bulgaria. In total, Kiko played 26 international matches and scored four goals.
