Richard Condie

Richard Condie (born October 24, 1942 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian animator , screenwriter , director and film producer .

Life

Condie grew up in Winnipeg , where he attended Kelvin High School. He then did his bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of Manitoba . In 1967 he moved back to Vancouver, where he worked as a sociologist at the University of British Columbia . After two years he returned to Winnipeg. In the 1970s he started working as an animator and produced the short film Oh Sure . In 1986 he received the Genie Award for The Big Snit and was nominated for an Oscar . Together with Cordell Barker , he produced the short film The Cat Came Back , for which he received another Genie Award. In 1996 he switched from classic cartoon to computer animation , and received his second Oscar nomination for La Salla .

Condie is a founding member of the Winnipeg Film Group and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
