The CMA CGM Megamax-24 is a series of container ships from the CMA CGM . The nine ordered ships are due to be delivered in 2019 [obsolete] and 2020 and will then be among the largest container ships in the world alongside the MSC Megamax-24 units.
history
The series was ordered from the Chinese shipbuilding group China State Shipbuilding Corporation in 2017 . The construction contract worth around US $ 1.2 billion, which began in July 2018, is split between the two shipyards Jiangnan Shipyard and Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding . The ships are used in liner services between Europe and East Asia.
technology
The ships belong to the group of ULCS container ships. Like the units of the Triple E class and some comparable ship series in this largest container ship segment, they are around 400 meters long, but around two and a half meters wider, in order to be able to stow an additional 24th row of containers transversely and thus to accommodate the larger number of container ships. Parking spaces to come.
The deckhouse is arranged like most ULCV series relatively far forward, which an improved line of sight makes and thus a higher front deck loading. The bunker tanks are arranged below the superstructure; they meet the relevant MARPOL regulations. The holds of the ships are closed with pontoon hatch covers. The maximum container capacity was initially given as around 22,000 TEU; However, according to estimates by the specialist Alphaliner, the units were built with around 23,000 TEU, as they are operated with liquefied natural gas , which consumes part of the space otherwise used as cargo space. There are connections for 2200 integral refrigerated containers . Outwardly striking is the vertical stem design without bulbous bow .
The ships are powered by a two - stroke diesel engine that acts on a fixed propeller . The energy supply on board is ensured by an auxiliary diesel. The ships are designed for slow steaming .
