The House of Burgundy ( French Maison de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté ) in Mainz is an institution of the regional council of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region (French Conseil régional de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté ) in the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate Mainz.

history

The facility in the Bleichenviertel of the old town of Mainz has existed since 1994 and results from the interregional partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Burgundy agreed in 1962 , the first Franco-German partnership between a German state and a French region . It finds its counterpart in the house of Rhineland-Palatinate (French: Maison de Rhenanie-Palatinat ) in Dijon .

In 2016 the house near Neubrunnenplatz moved to larger rooms to the south of the Große Bleiche.

tasks

The House of Burgundy acts as an intermediary between political decision-makers in Rhineland-Palatinate and Burgundy. As a German cultural center, it answers tourist inquiries from all over Germany and maintains close contact with the Institut français Mainz, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2011 at Schönborner Hof (Mainz) . The Burgundy House works specifically as a Burgundian cultural center and organizes, among other things, author readings, art exhibitions and the Burgundy Days twice a year with the "Burgundy Market" to open up new sales markets for Burgundian family businesses in the food and wine sector. It has had a library since May 2007.

Former seat of the House of Burgundy

For larger companies, the House of Burgundy establishes contacts between the companies and the regional agency Agence économique régionale Bourgogne-Franche-Comté within the framework of economic development . The internship agency is an intermediary service that enables young employees, trainees, students, schoolchildren and professionals to gain professional experience in the respective partner region, provided that they have sufficient language skills. Young people between the ages of 16 and 27 are offered the opportunity to take part in the Voluntary Ecological Year as an educational and orientation opportunity. Haus Burgund has also been a DFJW Info Point since 2004.

On the basis of the 1991 agreement, the House of Burgundy is financially supported by the Burgund-Franche-Comté Regional Council and supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament .
