Dolmen Cabana del Moro near Llauro

The dolmen , known as Cabana del Moro (“Hut of the Moors”), dates from the Neolithic Age and is located in the southern French municipality of Llauro in the Pyrénées-Orientales department . The Céllecs dolmen, also known as Cabana del Moro, is located in Catalonia . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

location

The megalithic stone grave is located in a forest about halfway between Llauro and the neighboring town of Tordères . There were enough large stones in the area to erect the structure.

description

The dolmen, built from barely hewn limestone , seems to have had a corridor several meters long . The orthostats on the left side of the burial chamber have sunk into the ground; as a result, the large capstone of the burial chamber has also lowered to the side. The stones in the area, which form a kind of enclosure, do not seem to belong to the original inventory.
