Cabudare is a city in the Venezuelan state of Lara . It is the administrative center of the Palavecino district. Cabudare is gradually becoming the satellite town for Barquisimeto .

Geographical location

Cabudare is located in the southeast of the Venezuelan state of Lara. It is located at 10.01 degrees north and 69.15 degrees west in the interior of Venezuela and in the immediate vicinity of Barquisimeto. The Turbio or Cabudare river is on the outskirts of the city.

Cabudare extends over alluvial soils from the Quaternary .

The main districts of the city are Los Naranjos, Santa Bárbara, Chucho Briceño, La Mata, Valle Hondo, Las Mercedes, La Alfarería, Barrio Paraíso, El Paraíso, Los Frailes and La Puerta.

history

There is no precise information about the founding of Cabudare. The place is the first occasion for a visit by Bishop Mariano Martí to Barquisimeto in March 1779.

Several battles took place in the area during the Wars of Independence. So the troops marched under the direction of Simón Bolívar from Cabudare against Barquisimeto in October 1813. In 1814 the independence troops under the direction of Urdaneta had to flee from the Spaniards over the Cabudare river.

economy

Agriculture is the main engine of the region. Sugar cane cultivation and cattle breeding are particularly important.

politics

Mayor of the Municipio Palavecino is José Barreras from the MUD ( Mesa de la Unidad Democrática ). He achieved 65.26% of the vote in the 2013 local elections in Cabudare. The MUD provides all representatives in the municipal parliament.
