Cacém is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Sintra . It is the second largest of the four parts of the city of Agualva-Cacém .

The community had 21,332 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Cacém and São Marcos were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias do Cacém e São Marcos . Cacém is the seat of this newly formed municipality.
