The Cadagua (Spanish, Basque Kadagua ) is an approx. 70 km long river in northern Spain .
course
The Río Cadagua has its source near the village of Cadagua in the Castilian municipality of Valle de Mena in the province of Burgos ; it flows in a north-easterly direction and flows into the Río Nervión between Bilbao and Barakaldo in the Basque province of Bizkaia .
economy
There were several watermills on the banks of the Río Cadagua - some of them until the end of the 20th century - whose reservoirs can still be seen today. Today there are four smaller power plants instead.
Attractions
The forest landscape on the upper reaches of the river is extremely attractive. In the village of Balmaseda , a three-arched medieval bridge with a bridge tower , rising towards the center, leads over the river.
