cadwork is a commercial CAD / CAM program that can be used in many areas of planning. This program is suitable for woodworkers , constructors and structural draftsmen as well as civil engineering draftsmen .
Modules
In the 2-D module cadwork 2D you work with normal, two-dimensional lines and surfaces with different hatchings , etc. In the 3-D module cadwork 3D , on the other hand, you work with volumes to represent walls, generate wood and steel bars and three-dimensional nodes to plan. Here everything is set up in a three-dimensional space and can then be rotated and viewed as desired.
Solid construction
The two-dimensional variant is particularly suitable for work plans in solid construction , while the 3-D module is better for tenders and competitions for a construction project. Alternatives to the latter are e.g. B. Revit or ArchiCAD .
Timber construction
Cadwork provides several modules for the various applications in timber construction.
cadwork 2D
cadwork 2D is the entry-level module in the cadwork program package .
It is a 2.5D CAD system that, in addition to two-dimensional processing, also allows height information to be carried along . This enables a smooth transition to cadwork 3D .
The way of thinking of the draftsman and designer is reflected here and ensures logical work, as all lines are defined by the user. The draftsman can create any shape without much effort. The lines can then be converted into areas and then filled with hatching.
cadwork 3D
cadwork 3D is a 3D CAD / CAM system. The areas of application can mainly be seen in timber and steel construction. cadwork 3D offers the possibility to work with free volume models. These have an internal axis (length, width and height) that allow the individual components to be easily assembled into complex, three-dimensional structures. There are various additional modules such as B. an assistant for the input of a roof, an assistant for the elementing of walls or the output of the individual components as a dimensioned 2D single part drawing or on CNC joinery machines.
