The Café Wildau is a hotel and restaurant on the Werbellinsee in the district of Wildau Eichhorst, which is part of the municipality Schorfheide is. The café is located in the north of the Brandenburg district of Barnim, directly on the banks of the Werbellinsee at the western end of the lake.

history

The building was originally constructed by a cement manufacturer named Bernolli around 1830. After the cement factory was closed in 1894, the court marshal's office took over the entrepreneur's villa and was assigned to the Hubertusstock hunting lodge . From the beginning of the 1920s, the property was used as a restaurant. After the Second World War , the building was operated by the trade organization (HO-Gaststätte) as "Café Wildau" and was run down. It was closed in 1974 and the building then fell into disrepair. In the summer of 1981, during the state visit by Helmut Schmidt , which took place in the nearby Hubertusstock hunting lodge, the GDR authorities ordered the demolition of the building . Directly in front of the café was a landing stage for excursion boats, the remains of which existed until the 1990s. This pier was newly built and is back in operation. In addition to the café, the canoe division of SV Stahl Finow has its sports center, opposite the sailors.

In 2006 the site was acquired by the von Hertzberg family, who faithfully rebuilt the building on the old cellar. The foundation stone was laid on July 3, 2008 with the participation of state politicians and after just one year, Café Wildau was reopened on July 1, 2009. The Berlin-Usedom cycle path runs right past the café .
