Cagliostro Quadrille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cagliostro Quadrille is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 369). It was performed for the first time on May 20, 1875 in the Schwenders Neue Welt establishment in Vienna.

Remarks

The work was compiled based on motifs from the operetta Cagliostro, which premiered in Vienna in 1875 . It thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 370 , 371 , 372 , 373 and 374 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The quadrille is almost a musical short cross-section through the operetta. In contrast to the operetta, it has held up to this day and is performed again and again.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 6 minutes and 8 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
