Cala Agulla ( Castilian Cala Guyá ) is the name of a bay with a sandy beach as well as that of an adjacent district of Cala Rajada in the northeast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca .

Location and description

Cala Agulla beach

The bay of Cala Agulla is only built on the southeast side, a settlement (urbanization) mostly made up of hotels and shops, which bears the name of the bay, and has now grown together with the main town of Cala Rajada. The fine sandy beach on the west side is completely framed by a pine forest that has spread over a dune area. The area was protected as a "natural area of special value" (Àrea natural d'especial interès, ANAI) by the Natural Area Act of January 30, 1991.

On the beach of Cala Agulla there is a restaurant and three small beach bar containers. As in most tourist centers on the island, sun beds and umbrellas are rented out in season. It is also possible to rent pedal boats and take part in banana rides. The sandy beach slopes gently into the sea with sandbanks in front of it in some places. Access is via paths from the Cala Agulla settlement through the forest, the Carrer de l'Agulla road , which leads from the port directly to the bay, or via a bypass road from Capdepera . A hiking trail starts northwest of the beach and leads over Cala Moltó to Cala Mesquida .

Access

By car from Capdepera or Cala Rajada, follow the signs for Cala Agulla . After driving through a pine forest, there is a parking lot on the left that is guarded and paid for during the season. From there several beach entrances lead through the forest to the bay.

In addition, the main road in Cala Rajada leads directly to Cala Agulla bay. A forest path leads from Cala Agulla to Cala Mesquida (only for pedestrians and cyclists).
