Beaches and bays in Mallorca

Cala Llombards is a small bay with a sandy beach on the southeast coast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located in the east of the municipality of Santanyí between the towns of Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyí .

Location and description

Boathouses on the north side

The Cala Llombards is about 230 meters long and 50 to 140 meters wide, facing west, rocky sea inlet on the steep coast of Santanyí, about 3 kilometers south of the main town of the municipality. In the immediate hinterland of Cala Llombards the settlement are located in the southwest ( catalan Urbanització ) Cala Llombards, smaller in northern agricultural areas and in the northwest the natural catchment area of torrent Torrent de Son Morlà . The latter joins about 320 meters west of the bay with the Torrent de Son Amer , which flows into the Mediterranean at Cala Llombards .

With the smaller northeastern neighboring bays Caló des Macs and s'Olla , Cala Llombards forms a larger bay that ends in the northeast with es Pontàs , a rock gate standing in the sea . To the east behind es Pontàs is Cala Santanyí, which extends north into the country . The 60 meter long sandy beach of Cala Llombards is up to 116 meters wide and framed by rocks on both sides. Since the Torrent de Son Amer only carries water when it rains heavily, the otherwise dry area behind the beach is used as a parking lot. There is a beach bar between the parking lot and the seashore and sun loungers and parasols are available for hire during the season. Pine trees grow on the rocky slopes next to the beach and behind the parking lot . On the north side of the bay, small boat houses (Catalan escars ) are built into the rocks.

The Cala Llombards is visited by locals and holidaymakers alike. Apart from the boathouses, the immediate vicinity of the beach is undeveloped, the settlement is located above the beach. It starts at the two access roads that end at the beach car park.

Access

From the MA-6100 road between es Llombards and Santanyí, the road to Cala Llombards branches off to the southeast near es Llombards. After reaching the settlement, the beach of Cala Llombards is signposted to the left. The access road leads through the settlement and ends with a steep, winding road that ends at the beach car park. Use of the parking lot is free of charge.
