The Caldwell Peak is a 1300 m high mountain peak on the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 3 km north of Mount Terra Nova and 1.5 km south of Oamaru Peak .
At the suggestion of the New Zealand geochemist Philip Raymond Kyle, the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the summit in 2000 after the American geologist David A. Caldwell (* 1961) from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology , who was involved in two field research campaigns starting in 1986 Master's thesis on the lava flows at Mount Erebus .
