The Oamaru Peak is a 1000 m high mountain peak on the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 3 km north of Mount Terra Nova and 1.5 km north of Caldwell Peak .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 2000 after the New Zealand city of Oamaru , which from the ship Terra Nova on February 10, 1913 as the first port after the end of the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) with the news of the death of the expedition leader Robert Falcon Scott and four other men had been run over.
