The Caleta Corthorn ( Spanish , in Argentina Caleta French ) is a bay 530 m wide at its entrance in the southwest of Wiencke Island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located around 3 km northeast of Cape Errera on the Peltier Canal .
Chilean scientists named it after Federico Corthorn, who worked as a helicopter pilot in the rescue of Argentine, Chilean and British scientists after the volcanic eruption on Deception Island in December 1967. The background of the Argentine naming is not known.
