California State Route 54 , CA 54 for short , is a highway in the US state of California that runs in an east-west direction.
The highway begins on Interstate 5 in San Diego at the mouth of the Sweetwater River and ends in El Cajon near Interstate 8 . From the intersection with California State Route 125 , the State Route follows Jamacha Boulevard and then to I-8 on Campo Road. The section between the cross with the CA 125 and the I-8 is to be expanded by 2030.
Between Interstate 805 and California State Route 94 , the road is also known as the South Bay Freeway .
