Caloplaca ammiospila (Wahlenb.) Oliv. ( syn. Caloplaca cinnamomea (Th.Fr.) Oliv.) is a species of lichen fromthe Teloschistaceae family .

Macroscopic features

Caloplaca ammiospila is a crusty lichen, that is, its bed ( thallus ) lies close to the base. The thallus is grainy, cracked, and white-gray. The apothecia are 1 to 1.5 mm in diameter. The apothecary disk is brown to rust-red. The edge of the apothecia is the same color as the thallus.

Microscopic features

The spores are hyaline , polar 2-celled, 8.8–16.7 × 5.2–7.9 µm, the septum is 3.5–6 µm. There are up to 8 spores in an ascus .

Spot reaction

The thallus and the apothecary disc turn red when drizzled with potassium hydroxide (K +).

distribution

The species occurs on old wood, plant remains and mosses in alpine locations.
