Calvin Jones (blues musician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Calvin "Fuzz" Jones (born June 9, 1926 in Greenwood , Mississippi , † August 9, 2010 in Southaven , Mississippi) was an American blues musician who played bass .

Jones learned the double bass and violin at a young age . He worked with Willie "Big Eyes" Smith for a long time , first for nearly two decades in Muddy Waters' band ; the collaboration between the two musicians continued in the Legendary Blues Band . Even if he was always in the background as a bass player, his contribution to the Chicago blues should not be underestimated.

The musicians with whom he has performed or on whose albums he can be heard cover a wide range. Of course, the blues plays a major role (for example with James Cotton and Otis Spann ), but he was also part of Kirsten Childs' musical production Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin .

In the film The Blues Brothers he can be seen as a musician in the scene in which John Lee Hooker gives a concert on the street.
