Camacuio is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Namibe . The district covers 7,390 km² and has 140,680 inhabitants (projection 2006). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.

The district is made up of three communities (Comunas):

• Camacuio
• Chingo
• Mamué (previously Chinquite)
