history

The label was developed in 1997 by the Clinton company as a men's casual wear brand. At the same time, the label Soccx, aimed at women, was created . In 2000, the Chelsea franchise system was created to set up clothing stores. A concept for Camp David stores was introduced in the same way in 2008 and one for Soccx in 2010 . In 2013 there were 230 shops and over 1000 sales areas in department stores or boutiques of the two brands Camp David and Soccx in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; in 2014, according to the company, there were already more than 250 shops and 1500 sales areas.

Until 2010 the brand was only available in the new federal states of Germany. With the commitment of Dieter Bohlen as a brand ambassador and the associated presence of the brand in the TV program Das Supertalent , the expansion into the West was achieved.

The Clinton company was named after Bill Clinton , who was in office at the time the company was founded , Camp David after his country residence, Soccx after Clinton's house cat Socks and Chelsea after his daughter Chelsea Clinton . The naming is considered a successful example of the country-of-origin effect .
