The Waldstein bellflower ( Campanula waldsteiniana ) is a species of bellflower ( Campanula ) in the bellflower family (Campanulaceae).
features
The Waldstein bellflower is an evergreen, perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of growth of 10 to 15 (30) centimeters. It forms subterranean runners. The basal leaves are egg-shaped to heart-shaped and already weathered at flowering time. The lower stem leaves are elliptical to ovate and petiolate, the upper ones are lanceolate, sessile and roughly serrated. The flowers are upright and spread out in loose, 3 to 5-flowered racemes . The crown is star-shaped, bell-shaped, deep blue in color and has a diameter of 20 millimeters.
The flowering time is in June and July.
Occurrence
The Waldstein bellflower occurs in Croatia in the Velebit Mountains on rock faces and blocks as well as in beech forests at altitudes of 700 to 1650 meters.

The Waldstein bellflower is widely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. It has been in culture since 1824 at the latest.
Systematics
The first description by the Austrian botanist Joseph August Schultes was published in 1819.
Campanula waldsteiniana forms the hybrid Campanula × wockei Sünd with the Tommasini bellflower ( Campanula tommasiniana ) .
