The small town of Campiglia , also Camiglia Tramonti , with about 109 inhabitants is located west of the bay of La Spezia , which is also called the Gulf of Poets . It is one of the 13 villages administered by La Spezia.

The place is located on the crest of a range of hills that slopes steeply to the Mediterranean on the other side. The range of hills drops 400 meters deep and is supported by countless walls that divided fields that were previously cultivated and are now (2010) in decline. The place offers a view of the coast of the Cinque Terre to Porto Venere or over the Gulf of La Spezia to the Apuan Alps .

From Campiglia hiking trails of the Cinque Terre lead to Biassa or Porto Venere, about 8 kilometers away . In the village of Campiglia there is a church with a bell tower and a mill, two trattorias that can be used by hikers in the Cinque Terre to rest and a shop for daily needs. The church of the village is dedicated to the patron saint Santa Caterina di Alessandria, next to which the cemetery is located, which gives an insight into the funeral culture of Italy. In the south the islands of Gorgona , Capraia and Elba can be seen in good weather .

There is a youth hostel and holiday apartments in the village.

Buses run daily 7 kilometers to La Spezia. Quarries of the exclusive natural stone Nero Portoro lie on the road that leads from Marola to Campiglia .
