Campiglio di Cireglio is a district of the provincial town of Pistoia in the Tuscany region .

geography

Campiglio di Cireglio , usually just called Campiglio , is a small mountain village in a wooded area and is located around two kilometers northwest of the center of the city of Pistoia near the Via Modenese (regional road SR 66) to Modena . The place is at 331 m and has about 135 inhabitants. The name-giving place Cireglio is 612 m, has about 700 inhabitants and is about 1 km north. A few meters south of the village flows the Torrente Vincio (Vincio di Brandeglio), a right tributary of the Ombrone Pistoiese .

history

The place is first mentioned in 1040 in connection with the Pieve San Pancrazio a Brandeglio in today's Cireglio. Another mention of the place was found in 1067 in documents of the bishop of Pistoia , Leo (1067-1085 in office). In the 13th century the place was known as Campillium de Brandellio . Until 1877 the place belonged to the municipality of Porta al Borgo and was then incorporated into Pistoia.

  • Chiesa di San Pietro a Campiglio , church in the diocese of Pistoia , which was documented as Ecclesia Sancti Petri de Campiglio as early as the 13th century and was subordinate to the Pieve di Brandeglio (today Chiesa dei Santi Maria e Pancrazio a Cireglio ). From 1681, the church was redesigned.
