Camulos is a black metal - band from Saxony , Germany . The name comes from the Celtic god of war of the same name . The band released their two albums on the record label Christhunt Productions .

style

In terms of text, Christianity is derided and criticized as is typical of the genre, for example with regard to the Inquisition (in the text on Game of Blood ) or repeatedly uncovered cases of sexual abuse of children by church officials (in the text on Der Untermensch (with the name Christian) ). In most cases, violence against adherents of Christianity is predicted or desired. Because the Christians are called “ sub-humans ” and the musicians are close to right-wing extremism, the rock-hard author Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann described Camulos himself as a right-wing extremist project. This classification corresponds to the assessment of the appraiser Rainer Fromm in the indexing procedure for the first album, which states "that the music project 'Camulos' is deeply rooted in the right-wing extremist part of the German black metal scene through personal and political contacts". The reviewer Fromm emphasizes that "[o] open right-wing extremisms such as the glorification of National Socialism, hatred of foreigners or imperial fantasies of the great empire [...] are not served". (see section Indexing the Debut ). Because of the texts, the press shop refused to print the CD.

Although Nazgul's main project is the RAC band Kraftschlag and the composition of Camulos is mainly due to him, the band's music is not RAC-influenced, but musically follows a Nordic-influenced black metal style, which contains comparatively harmonious melodies. With a few exceptions, the overall speed of the publications to date is high.

Indexing of the debut album

In 2002 Camulos released their debut album Der Untermensch (called Christ) . In a letter dated May 6, 2003 from the State Office of Criminal Investigation in Saxony, an application for indexing was submitted to the Federal Inspectorate for Media Harmful to Young People. The reason given was the content of youth-endangering, satanist and right-wing extremist texts. In the recorded investigation, the sound carrier was examined by the political scientist Rainer Fromm. The test center came to the conclusion that the criticism of the reign of religion, which the band perceived as such, contained on the sound carrier was generally permissible, but was expressed in an illegal form. Most passages of the text would only aim to injure believing persons, thus ultimately the facts of blasphemy and discrimination are given. With regard to the suspicion of political extremism and the associated xenophobia (primarily anti-Semitism ), however, the expert did not see any clearly identifiable facts. Finally, on November 6, 2003, Der Untermensch (with the name Christ) was included in Part A of the list of media harmful to minors and thus indexed, and no confiscation took place.

Side projects

Zorrn and Nazgul also play with the right-wing rock bands Kraftschlag and Soldiers of Freedom and also lead their side project Yggdrasil. Nazgul is also involved in the band Caedes, together with Lord Asgaqlun and others.

In addition to his involvement with Kraftschlag, Camulos and Wolfswinter, Zorrn was also the drummer of the Saxon pagan metal band Magog , which dissolved in 2004, reunited without him in 2009, and dissolved again in 2011 without any result.

Lord Asgaqlun previously played with the now defunct bands Dunkelgrafen and Vilkates. He is also the owner of the Fog of the Apocalypse record label.
